Proclaiming God's Glory through Reality Show
I never watched Survivor before, but from the ads of the show I can see that there's a lot of sin (lie, talk bad about others, backstabbing, vulgarities) involved. It is interesting to follow Matt's journey on the show and how it have turned out. Click the link, read the article, and be inspired :)

"Why" on Ministry
It reveals motivation.
It digs into the depth of the heart.
It makes aware of the unconscious.
Now I'm questioning myself, again, why?
Why am I taking ministry?
Can I say no to a ministry offered to me? Or why should I say no?
Is it 'weird' for a theological student to say no when others asked me to minister? Is it not ok for a theological student to take less ministry than others for wanting to concentrate on study? Should I care of what people think of me?
Am I taking ministry because nobody else available, or because I think that nobody else can do better than me?
Am I taking ministry to prove myself? To get a platform to develop my skills? To utilize what I have learned at school?
Am I taking ministry because it makes me feel good or feel useful?
Am I taking ministry because I just love to be the one in charge, to be able to tell others what to do?
Am I taking ministry because people have given me allowances and love gifts? Oh... yeah... money is always one of the trickiest thing on earth.
Am I taking ministry because I sense that there was a great need? Has these needs driven me to ministry? Is need-driven ministry right?
What is inside is more important than what is seen.
Works are important, but it is the motivation behind that defines the value of works.
Has the Gospel driven me? Has God's grace driven me?

Prayer and Power
I read this statement twice within these two days from two different books. Coincidence? I don't think so. I think God is trying to say something to me.
When I read the above statement, two things came into my mind:
First, what Peter Parker said in Spiderman 2 : "With great power comes great responsibility". Hmm... come to think about it, it's quite frustrating, right? You end up thinking about how much responsibility you will have to do.
I think the sentence is not complete. If I may add, it would be: "With great power comes great responsibility, and with great responsibility, comes great power."
Yup, there's God's encouragement for each of us to fulfill our responsibility :)
Second, I think about how my life would be next semester. I will take 5 subjects (same as this semester) and 1 audit. Plus... there will be placement. I will be placed in my home church. Currently, I still do not know what my responsibilities are, but one thing for sure, I will have more responsibilities compared to this semester.
The quote above becomes an encouragement for me to pray more. Praying... something that I have been considered as 'second class' compared to reading Bible. Yup, no doubt I enjoy reading Study Bible, commentaries, and books. But to pray? It takes much lesser than my time spent for reading. I think God is trying to remind me to get on my knees more...
Thank You, Lord, for Your Word. Help me to obey.

A Day with Rev. HR and His Wife
A special call...
A call for total surrender to GOD even on the simplest thing of daily lives...
A call for faith to His providence...
A call for sacrifice... die to yourself and your loved ones...
A call to live for Christ... and bear His cross...
A call to fully understand God's heart... His mercy and compassion...
A day with them has opened my eyes and heart of what God can really do in ordinary people's life. He is undescribably amazing, and I stand here totally in awe of Him and His works.
I believe my Creator knows me well, what I would and wouldn't be able to bear. That is why he did not call me for this particular mission.
Still... He is calling me to do good works that are just right for me...
And yes, just like Rev. HR and his wife who are faithfully doing good works that are right for them, I also want to be faithful to my calling.
"For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." -Ephesians 2:10-

Small Group (No Name Yet)
The church started the idea of Small Group at the end of last year. At that time me & Dyn planned our groups. Both of us would lead this group that consists of Lis, Kem, Mel, Ton, Jas.
Off we started... meetings by meetings...
The chemistry is there, I must say. We could openly share about our life. And it's not just sharing. It is sharing with a 'deep' content, very spiritual... and we were growing in numbers, too.
We are determined to have a better relationship with Him...
We are struggling with our weaknesses...
We are doing our best to witness for Christ...
We are praying for each other and for salvation of the people we love...
We want to be like Christ in our thoughts, our words, and our deeds... A vision that we would not be able to achieve in this life... but we knew that this is what God wants for us...
LORD, please, keep working in our lives. We are tools in Your hands. Use us to bring glory and honour for YOU alone. Amen.

12 Ways to Trap Those Who Are So Called Reformed
During a meeting held by the strong man and his servants, the Strong Man rolled out his plan of attack against the Reformed People.
12 Ways to Trap Those Who Are So Called Reformed
1. Make Them Big in Head but Small in Heart
2. Encourage Them to Criticise but Make Them Unwilling to Act
3. Allow Them To Learn The Sovereignty of God but Make Them Fail to Understand Man's responsibility
4. Encourage Them to Be Theologically Strong but Weak in Love and Deeds
5. Nurture Their Pride in Knowledge, So That They Will Absent In Humility, Gentleness and Meekness
6. Instigate Them to Quarrel over Disputable Matters In The Bible to Weaken Their Church Unity
7. Flame Their Zeal For Traditions but Cold Like Dead Fish in Worship
8. Praise Them For Always Correcting People but Failure to Live out Themselves
9. Let Them Be Zealous in Doctrines but Failure in Doctrine of Love
10. Teach Them about Predestination But Not Let Them Understand The Command of Great Commission
11. Let Them Teach about Grace but Not Showing to Others
12. Poison Them In Self Contentment, Pride in Knowledge and weak in Love and Evangelism is their trademarks.
Go out and trap those "Reformed" in minds but not in hearts and will.
Allow them to think they ARE ALWAYS RIGHT , that they Themselves are LOGOS.
Then we shall succeed, in leading them to fall into our traps.
(Instructions by Strong Man).
plus: don't leak this secrets out for fear they will examine their lives.
The article serves as a reminder for me as a Christian. I used to be a person that was very 'thirsty' in knowledge. "Knowledge is power" was my motto. I love reading. I used to be a very arrogant person, thinking that I was the smartest of all and I knew better than anyone else. I always tried to show my knowledge, talk intellegently with others using jargons, look down on other people that I thought not as intellectual as me. I chose who to be friends with. Most of my friends are the top students in class.
But I came to one point when I felt that knowledge, in the end, did not satisfy me.
It is wisdom. It is love. It is compassion. Those are the things that makes life become a wonderful testimony for others. Show them to others, and we will see lifes changed, we will see hearts changed.
Up until now, I sometimes still struggling with this weakness. I still have to constantly remind myself to love and to be humble. "Constantly remind myself"... It means it doesn't come automatically.
I also have other things to share from Prayer Meeting yesterday that really 'hit' me.
The preacher talked about the masks people use to hide their trueselves:
1. The mask of belongings. e.g. buy branded things to build one's identity *Crocs? G2000? :p*
2. The mask of intellectually. *which is so me!* e.g. gain recognition by collecting books (but not reading it) >.< , collecting degree, scientific reference out of its context.
3. The mask of social. e.g. join groups that perceived to be able to change our status
4. The mask of morality. e.g. donate money or other things to cover failures to live as a true Christian in front of GOD.
I also learnt about "the progressive of sanctification". The building of Christian character. There are three categories:
1. BASIC character. Purpose: to be able to 'survive' in the community. e.g. obedience, gratefulness, attentiveness
2. BEAUTIFUL character. Purpose: To be a good member of a team. e.g. friendly, tolerance, compassion
3. BRILLIANT character. Purpose: To be able to influence or lead others. e.g. initiative, persuasive, wisdom
In my heart I was shouting, "LORD, THOSE are what I'm looking for! I want to grow fully in all those characters!!!"

A "Spiritual Giant" That Has Been A Source of Inspiration for A Woman That Has Been An Inspiration For Me
My Vow
Whatsoever Thou sayest unto me, by Thy grace I will do it.
My Constraint
Thy love, O Christ, my Lord.
My Confidence
Thou art able to keep that which I have committed unto Thee.
My Joy
To do Thy will, O God.
My Discipline
That which I would not choose, but which Thy love appoints.
My Prayer
Conform my will to Thine.
My Motto
Love to live, live to love.
My Portion
The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance.
Teach us, good Lord, to serve Thee as Thou deservest;
to give and not to count the cost;
to fight and not to heed the wounds;
to toil and not to seek for rest;
to labor and not to ask for any reward
save that of knowing that we do Thy will, O Lord our God.

The Life and Legacy of Amy Carmichael—A Chance to Die
written by Elisabeth Elliot.
This was Amy Carmichael’s Confession of Love.
Amy Carmichael (1867-1951) was an Irish missionary to India.
She spent fifty-three years in South India without furlough.
She was known as “Amma” or “mother” by the hundreds of children that she
rescued from moral danger and raised to love and know Jesus Christ.
Amy was a Godly woman who gave her life unreservedly to serve the Lord.

Peace
That is how I have been in the past 2 weeks.
Based on my current situation, I've been trying to think some bad scenarios that might happen to me in the future (eventhough I'm not supposed to)
Well... the conclusion is... What should I fear of? What bad thing that could happen to me?
Unemployment? It just prove that GOD gives me more time to be quiet, to search the Truth more deeply, and to set my eyes more to other people. Anyway, I have been there. And I enjoyed every moment of it.
No money as the result of being jobless? I still have family in Bandung that would accept me as who I am. And I could just start a new chapter of life there.
What else that I could think of?
Suffering? Sickness? Loneliness? My experiences with those kind of things just made me closer to GOD as well as grew in faith & hope in HIM
Persecution from people around me? Not afraid. I will hang on to GOD. Just do what HE wants me to do. In the end all people will see how great is my GOD.
Death? Even death is considered gain for me :) Well.. if I could choose, I would choose to live. But... "my times are in Your hands" (Psalm 31: 15a)
How can I come to this state of peace?
Read Bible. Read good books. Don't read rubbish.
And reflect on what we read.
These are a few (from many many many) important and useful things that I learned from reading:
1. Psalm 56:3 says "When I am afraid, I will trust in you." But, Isaiah 12:2 is better to say: "Surely God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid" (this one thanks to Pastor Warren Wiersbe)
Trust first, then I won't be afraid. But, even if I feel afraid, there's a way out, which is to trust in HIM. Amazing rite? I'm currently in the process to trust everything in God's hands. All I need to do is obey.
2. As usual, Elisabeth Elliot has always been my inspiration! I'll quote her again: "We are meddling with God's business when we let all manner of imagining loose, predicting disaster, contemplating possibilities instead of following, on day at a time, God's plain and simple pathway. "As thy days so shall thy strength be" (Deuteronomy 33:25). God knows how to apportion each one's strength according to that day's need. Faithfulness today is the best preparation for the demands for tomorrow."
Apart from reading... Listen to good songs. Hymns & worship songs. Don't listen to rubbish.
I would just close my eyes and let myself absorb every word to be my prayer to GOD.
Well... it is too good to be true. Therefore I believe GOD is preparing me for something "big". Most probably a huge storm. Hmm... let's see...
For now, I would just equip myself with 1 Corinthians 10:12-13 "So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall! No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it."
How beautiful a life lived in, with, and for GOD! :)

PRAYER BEFORE STARTING WORK
I bring Your presence with me.
I speak Your peace, Your grace, Your mercy,
and Your perfect order into this office.
I acknowledge Your power over all that
will be spoken, thought, decided, and done within these walls.
Lord, I thank You for the gifts You have blessed me with.
I commit to using them responsibly in Your honor.
Give me a fresh supply of strength to do my job.
Anoint my projects, ideas, and energy,
so that even my smallest accomplishment
may bring You glory.
Lord, when I am confused, guide me.
When I am weary, energize me. When I am
burned out, infuse me with the light of the Holy Spirit.
May the work that I do and the way I do it bring
faith, joy, and a smile to all that I come in
contact with today. And oh Lord,
when I leave this place, give me traveling mercy.
Bless my family and home to be in order as I left it.
Lord, I thank you for everything You've done,
everything You're doing, and everything You're going to do.
In the Name of Jesus I pray, with much love and Thanksgiving..... Amen.
PS: Got this note from my boss today... maybe I should start to say this prayer everyday before I go to work...

What's Your Hobby?
Must set aside some time >.<
Ok. This is special case. I dunno why, but I feel like I have to share this...
This morning I taught in a class... A one student class... Felt like doing a pivate instead of teaching :)
The student is a Filipino domestic worker. Short, quite plumb, nice, decent, pretty (my Myanmarese colleague kept emphasizing this. Hehe..). She seems young, about 20 yrs old, but when I checked, she has a husband and 2 kids! o.0
In the curriculum, I was told to give some tips on how the newly arriving workers can cope with homesickness, loneliness, and sad feeling. One way to do this is by doing the things they like to do a.k.a doing their hobby.
I gave some examples to her: listening to music, writing diary, reading, etc.
And then I ask a question to her, "What is your hobby? What do you like to do?"
Straightly she answered, " I like reading Bible".
...
...
...
I stunned! A simple answer from a simple girl, yet it gave strong impact.
Then I asked her, "You like reading Bible?"
"Yes.", she replied.
You could hear a big "Wow!" in my heart! !
I mean... I don't think she knows that I'm a Christian... *I don't think my name and my face would make people think that I'm one :p*
And there she was... with courage she firmly stated that her hobby is reading the Bible!
I must admit she is one of a kind.
I definitely NEVER expect that kind of answer coming out of a student I teach. EVERY other domestic workers I have asked before (even though they are Catholic Filipino) always gave "standard" answers (listen to music, sing, write).
Then I smiled at her. And I gave a glance to my Myanmarese colleague who is in the room with me (a devout sister in Christ) and found out that she also smiled :)
Then the conversation moved on to how often she reads the Bible (first thing in the morning & night before sleep). I told her that me & my colleague are Christian and I shared with her how we also do the same thing and how GOD's word has always become our source of strength everyday. And she also smiled, maybe because she knew that she is not alone :)
Well... what a day! I must admit I can't stop thinking about it.
I mean... yes I also like reading Bible, but I don't think to the extend that if people ask me my hobby I would answer "Reading the Bible."
Today's incident really make me think, think, and think again...
who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of sinners
or sit in the seat of mockers.
But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
and on his law he meditates day and night."

My New Job: the Stories Behind and What I Learn
Presentasi pertama tu bener2 disaster...
Both went well :)
1. Prayer: "Be still and know that I am GOD"
Gua belajar buat mengalihkan kuasa atas hidup gua. Dari mengandalkan diri sendiri, diganti jadi mengandalkan Dia.
In the end, Tuhan ga kasih apa yang gua pikirkan.
Gua dikasih damai sejahtera. No fear. No doubt. Gua menyanggupi. And it's a deal! :)
Lewat semua proses itu, gua bener2 ngerasain kalo kerjaan ini memang meant to be for me.
2. Word: "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you"
3. The Art of Waiting: "He hath made every thing beautiful in His time"
I thank HIM for HIS faithfulness & strength. Not once He left me nor forsaken me.
Perjalanan belum berakhir... malah baru aja mau dimulai...
It will be tough. Gua udah di-warn kalo kerjaan ini bakal sedikit membosankan. Gua juga bakal kerja 5.5 hari instead of 5 hari.
But.... let me see the positive side. I will meet a lot of people (domestic workers). I will work with more people (colleagues). It means I have more people & more opportunities to be a blessing :)
Big Daddy, I'm so proud to have a Dad like You. Please, help me to be a child that makes you proud!

English translation:
There is a gift
Have you received it?
It can’t be seen by eyes
Yet, your heart may know it
This gift awaits
Outside the door of your heart
It is prepared just for you
No one else can receive it
Life is limited, time will go by
If you do not care
The opportunity may slip away
Although the gift is great
If you do not want
How can you get it? How can you get it?
The infant in the manger
He came for you!
Dear friend, do you understand?
The best gift in the world
It is Jesus Christ, Son of Man
Ada sebuah hadiah
Apakah kau sudah menerimanya?
Hadiah itu tak terlihat oleh mata
Tapi, hatimu mungkin mengetahuinya
Hadiah itu menunggu
Di luar pintu hatimu
Dipersiapkan hanya untukmu
Tidak ada orang lain yang dapat menerimanya
Hidup itu terbatas, waktu akan berlalu
Bila kau tak peduli
Kesempatan itu akan pergi
Meski hadiah itu sangat indah
Jika kau tidak menginginkannya,
bagaimanakah kau dapat menerimanya? Bagaimanakah kau dapat menerimanya?
Hai teman, mengertikah kau?
Bayi di dalam palungan
Dia datang untukmu!
Hai teman, mengertikah kau?
Hadiah terindah di dunia
Adalah Yesus Kristus, Anak Manusia
That was a new song I learned today as a part of Christmas carolling in one of the hospital in Sg.
God touched her heart!!!
Wow, I feel blessed! Gua mengalami apa itu artinya:
1. The JOY of being a channel to HIS blessings, being a partner of HIM, and an instrument of HIS work.. Cannot really describe it, better feel it yourself! :)
When we serve HIM, yes, we will be a blessing for others, but, when we re-think about it, the greatest blessing of service is for the ones who serve :) Sukacitanya berlipat ganda.
2. The unthinkable way of GOD.
Carolling itu diadakan dengan tujuan "Share the blessings with PATIENT". Tapi kenyataannya... Tuhan kasih "bonus" seorang suster :)
It's amazing how GOD work... :D
GOD, I am definitely ready for next! :) *Antusias mode: ON*

Eternity
Last weekend gua banyak diingetin lagi soal perspektif kekekalan (eternity).
Buat orang Indonesia yang belajar Hubungan Internasional, dia itu "sesepuh", a very
Menginspirasi orang2.
Sempet kepikiran, "Tapi... hmm... sayang cuman sementara..."
Tapi mereka kontribusi mereka ga bertahan lama. Bakal abis dimakan waktu. Waktu dunia berakhir, berakhir pula kontribusi & peninggalan mereka. Orang2 yang mereka tolong toh tetep bakal mati & binasa.
-Tokoh misi.
Apa bakal binasa ato bakal hidup kekal?). Hmmm... ga mudah sih... karena otak gua agak terkontaminasi dunia :p Dan lewat diskusi sama temen2, kita berkesimpulan ga mudah juga ngelakuinnya ke orang2 yang terdekat sama kita (keluarga, temen, colleague dll). Tapi bukan berarti ga mungkin...
OK, Ta. Berjuang! Semangat! *meng-encourage diri sendiri :p*
Lanjut...
Pas pulang dari YF gua lanjutin baca buku "Life Sentences" karangan Warren W. Wiersbe. Apa yang gua baca?
All true believers of Jesus Christ have their citizenship in heaven (Luke 10:20; Phil 3:19-20) and don't belong to the world system that so fascinates Cain's descendants (John 17:14-17). But "the son of this world are more shrewd in their generation that the sons of light," said Jesus (Luke 16:8 NKJV)-and they are. They know how to make money and achieve what the world calls "success," but they enjoy it only "in their generation". They can't see beyond this world and never seem to take eternity into consideration. Consequently, what they live for won't bring satisfaction and won't last. Scripture bears this out:
The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever. - 1 John 2:17
Wew.
Tinggal ditunggu prakteknya...

On Christmas Day: an Operette - Song
Why on earth would You come to earth
Clothed in our humanity
God spoke His word, all creation heard
Heaven’s royal symphony
Angel splitting skies, a tiny infant Christ
None of us could understand
Our God on earth, showing us our worth,
Or the vastness of Your plan
Jesus, O the Wonderful One
Jesus, precious glorious Son
Heaven’s highest pleasure
And this earth’s finest treasure
Jesus, O the Wonderful One
Wonderful One…
Jesus, You’re the Wonderful One
Jesus, precious glorious Son
Heaven’s highest pleasure
And this earth’s finest treasure
Jesus, You’re the Wonderful One,
Wonderful One
Jesus, You’re the Wonderful One
Pas dinyanyiin sama kita jadinya kaya' gini :)
I think this song capture the core of Christmas. Christmas is not something that is easily understandable for human mind, as I have shared with you here.YESUS, penghubung Allah dan manusia, penghubung sorga dan bumi.
His birth as a human, a baby, is part of GOD's plan of salvation, that would be fulfilled +/- 33 years later..
On Christmas Day: an Operette - Sharing (Preparation)
I always learnt a lot through the preparation time:
1. Ujian & cobaan yg datang selama masa persiapan (apalagi mendekati hari-H):
- Keengganan mengundang orang2 (takut penolakan, takut dicap rohani)
Sempet perang mulut...
Sempet raise my voice waktu ngomong sama orang...
It encouraged me a lot! Thanks a lot, Sis! :)
*Dasar kurang iman*
Kekuatiran itu ternyata ga terjadi, karena in the end kita malah kelebihan orang.
3. OK. This is the best part.
Contoh:
-Seorang temen yang Sg-an berinisial DS. Gua on the way mo ke kantor gereja, begitu pula D. Beginilah kira2 pembicaraan kita.
"So what are you doing here? You are supposed to be at home!" I shouted.
"I wanna help with the props." he answered.
"But, what if your boss called? What will your parents say?" still shouted, with eyebrows raised.
"Ya... tell the truth la... Cannot lie what?" he answered with calmness.
"So... what will happen to you?" still shouting.
"Yea... I'll get punishment." he answered, still in calm & confident tone.
".................." Mulut menganga, tapi dah ga bisa ngomong apa2... percuma... :)*
Gua kagum sama dia, bisa sampe segitunya... Setau gua hukuman wajib militer ga gampang. He really took the risks.
Good job narator!
Salute for you!
You did a good job!
I remember all your hard work...
Tapi di mata gua yg tau banget seluk beluk belakang panggung.... deep down inside my heart I'm grateful to be able to work with you guys. I could see that you really give your best. THE BEST.

Grateful to GOD for HIS blessings, faithfulness, strength, and LOVE :) and grateful to GOD for all the great Bros & Sis that I serve with :)

On Christmas Day: an Operette - narsis mode: ON (video)
To the point aja ya...
OK, one's done. Next! Changi Chapel, here I come! :D

Becoming His Star
